A MUSIC journey of 15 years will be amongst the key points that award-winning gospel artist Nolly Fumba will speak about at the Amandla Endumiso event scheduled to take place at Kokstad City Hall on December 13.
Kokstad-based Fumba said she will also share the challenges and experiences she had faced in the industry.
She said her experience in the music industry was no different from what other musicians go through in the start-up phase. She said novice musicians often face a lack of support that sometimes hinders their ability to establish and sustain their careers.
She mentioned financial constraints, lack of industry knowledge and limited access to networks that makes it difficult for new artists to thrive in the industry.
“When I started singing, people enjoyed my music with zero support. But that never stopped me from singing,” she stated.
Her first album called We Glorify was released in 2010, followed by the second album Ndizombonga Ngani in 2012.
Between 2013 and 2024, she released three albums, which included Hlabani Umkhosi, released in November 2024.
“Throughout my music career, I have won six awards,” she said, adding that she has invited local artists and guests such as Pastor Nono, Mtshatsha, Vuyokazi and Mbali to be part of her journey.
Fumba said this year’s event will be sponsored by Covenant Partners, a local group of people that supports each other.
Last year, she celebrated academic and music achievements after she won two awards in December 2023.
She won the award for the Best Female Artist and Best Gospel Artist at the 10th SAUMA awards.
According to Fumba, her journey in music has never been easy. However, she now feels much lighter, though she still has to go far.
