Top Model chasing crown

IT was in 2022 when Matatiele-based model Ayanda Nondabula (19) decided to pursue modelling to bolster her confidence and overcome bullying.

Her choice was rewarded this year when she was announced as a finalist in the upcoming Miss Top Model South Africa, a national platform created for young women to showcase their talent and voice their opinions in a way that makes them strong and confident.

Nondabula said she endured bullying at school, and that learners called her names due to her appearance.

To rise above that and gain more confidence, she said she started modelling and participated in village competitions until she was able to participate in the Miss Matat Teen 2022 and won.

“It’s going to be my first time participating in a national competition. Even though I feel nervous about the competition, I am confident that I will succeed in my modelling career,” she said.

Voting details for the competition will be announced on April 1 through social media.
