AN association responsible for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector hosted its first annual general meeting at Bhongweni Youth Centre on Monday, April 13, to strengthen and coordinate the sector within the Kokstad area.

The meeting focused on the election of five members to serve as a working committee. The meeting also adopted the association’s constitution and the approval of its legal and policy framework.

It also discussed and aligned key programmes for the 2026/27 period. The meeting was attended by ICT business owners from the Kokstad area. ICT sector Kokstad chairperson Zizipho Nogwaza said that proceedings ran smoothly with meaningful discussions and the sharing of practical ideas on how to grow and strengthen the industry.

“Members explored how the newly adopted constitution and policy framework will guide the protection of the sector’s interests and support its long-term aspirations,” he stated, adding that the ICT sector under Greater Kokstad Business Forum is one of the key stakeholders driving local economic development.

He added that the meeting also played an important role in shaping the future of the sector in championing economic growth in the digital era.

According to Nogwana, the association reaffirmed its commitment to work closely with both government and the private sector, positioning itself as a well-organised, credible and collaborative stakeholder. Elected committee members include Dr Lungi Ngejane (chairperson), Luthando Yekani (deputy chairperson), Zenani Tshabalala (secretary), Nomvuzo Mgeyi (deputy secretary) and Andisani Ntanjana (treasurer).

In addition, a disciplinary committee of 12 members was established to ensure accountability and uphold the standards of the association. Nogwaza expressed confidence in the sector’s capabilities.

The association called on the local government, private sector and potential investors to support the ICT sector.
