A TREASURED moment was witnessed at Bulwer Village Park recently when much-needed equipment was handed over to local small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs).
The Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Local Municipality in partnership with the Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency (SEDFA) demonstrated their commitment to local economic development and empowerment of small businesses through targeted support initiatives.
The municipality handed over essential equipment to Londeka Laundromat as part of its ongoing SMME support programme.
This initiative aimed to strengthen local enterprises, enhance service delivery and contribute to job creation within the community.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Local Municipality deputy mayor Kholeka Hadebe who stressed the importance of supporting SMMEs.
She said that SMMEs are key drivers of economic growth and sustainability, while mentioning that the empowerment of local entrepreneurs inspires broader community development.
“This support is a reflection of our commitment as a municipality to ensure that local businesses are equipped with necessary tools to grow and succeed. We believe that by investing in SMMEs, we are investing in the future of our local economy,” she said.
Receiving the equipment was Londeka of Londeka Laundromat, who expressed gratitude for the assistance and noted that the equipment will significantly improve operational efficiency and service quality, while opening up opportunities for business expansion.
The municipality said it will continue to partner to roll out similar programmes aimed at uplifting small businesses and fostering an inclusive local economy.
