THE Eastern Cape Department of Health MEC Ntandokazi Capa spent 67 minutes for Mandela Day, supporting #ProjectOwethu at Flagstaff Town Hall with some of its partners recently.

Capa joined the Eastern Cape provincial government in collaboration with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) at the Owethu Community Outreach programme.

She affirmed the department’s commitment to improve and deliver quality healthcare services through #ProjectOwethu.

“The department has provided a range of services including dental care, mother and child health, Pap smear screening, emergency care, free X-rays, as well as the support of doctors and 20 nurses for those in need,” she said.

Speaker for the Ingquza Hill Local Municipality Sibongile Buyiswa Vatsha delivered the welcoming address and introduced the invited management and key stakeholders during the official launch of #ProjectOwethu, currently in progress at the Flagstaff Community Hall.

Dr Imtiaz Sooliman of the Gift of the Givers expressed his appreciation to both the people and the government.

“Some say the government has collapsed, but I assure you, it is still standing,” he said in response to the concerns raised. He called for unity to save and build South Africa.
