A GROUNDBREAKING step was recently marked and celebrated at the Ingwe Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College in Maluti.

The college partnered with Sive Special School for the Deaf to offer Robotics and Programming for 15 hearing-impaired students.

The first-of-its-kind programme for hearing-impaired students will run for three years and is being funded by the Services Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA).

According to Ingwe TVET College Maluti Campus manager Mandisa Mgobhoza, this is a way of advancing inclusive education.

The initiative aims to ensure equal access to education and training opportunities for persons with disabilities in line with priorities on inclusive growth and transformation within the post-school education and training sector.

Mgobhoza said that the partnership between Ingwe TVET College Maluti Campus and Sive Special School for the Deaf aims to empower the students with relevant vocational skills that will enhance their employability and participation in the economy.

The students will receive quality training in an environment that supports a unique learning experience.
