THE Greater Kokstad Municipality has announced the start of major roadwork projects for the rehabilitation of Shayamoya Road, Phase 4A.
Municipal spokesperson Zolani Siqwayi said this forms part of the broader service delivery and infrastructure improvement programme.
“The construction is currently underway on the main road passing through Marikana from Shayamoya to Bhongweni. In the interest of public safety and the efficiency of the works, the road has been closed until February next year,” he said.
He said during this period, access will be strictly limited to permanent residents only.
“We appeal to all road users to respect the closures, make use of designated alternative routes, and adhere to all traffic signage and control measures in place,” he concluded.
