As the sacred season of Easter dawns upon us, it invites not only celebration, but deep spiritual reflection on the profound mystery of sacrifice, redemption, and the triumph of hope over despair.
Across Kokstad, this holy period arrives at a time when hearts are heavy, yet yearning for comfort, clarity, and peace. Easter stands at the very centre of the Christian faith, commemorating the suffering, crucifixion, and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It is a season that reminds humanity that even in the darkest hour, light will prevail. As it is written in1 Peter 1:3: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In His great mercy He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
This “living hope” is not abstract, it is a call to rise above pain, to rebuild where there is brokenness, and to hold steadfast to faith when circumstances seem overwhelming.
At this time, the community remains deeply affected by the painful and unresolved matter concerning Lathitha Mtolo.
The anguish experienced by the family, friends, and the broader community cannot be overstated.
It is in such moments that Easter’s message becomes even more significant: a reminder that compassion must guide our actions and that justice must be pursued with dignity and unity.
The Scriptures urge in Galatians 6:2: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.”
This calls upon every member of society to stand together, not in anger that destroys, but in solidarity that uplifts and restores. Easter further teaches the power of grace, forgiveness, and restraint. In Luke 23:34, even in His suffering, Christ said: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
Such profound mercy challenges all to respond to adversity not with violence or destruction, but with wisdom, patience, and moral courage.
In times of distress, it is vital to remember that acts of vandalism and unrest undermine the very fabric of community life, delaying development and weakening the capacity for effective service delivery.
True strength lies not in destruction, but in disciplined, united action that seeks lasting solutions. As families gather and communities reflect during this Easter period, may hearts be softened, minds are guided by wisdom, and spirits be renewed with faith.
Let this be a season where grief is met with compassion, uncertainty with hope, and division with unity.
May the resurrection power of Easter bring healing to every wounded heart, peace to every troubled home and renewed strength to the community.
Till next time!
