LEAGUE matches for the SAFA Alfred Nzo regional league have been put on recess for the December holidays until January next year.

When the league reopens next year for the second leg of the season, Iqhayiya Sports Academy will remain in the second place of the log with 12 points. Iqhayiya Sports Academy has been in the sixth position with three points, however, after four wins, they moved to the second position of the log.

Team manager Zandisile Ngudze said that the first leg of the league season has been challenging but manageable. He said the club signed up two additional coaches to help the club secure more wins.

“We didn’t start the season perfectly, but the boys [players] managed to bounce back and find their rhythm. We believe we are on the right track and the boys are motivated,” he said.

He said the December break will be spent training players to maintain their fitness levels until the league reopens.

Iqhayiya Sports Academy will play the first match against Drakensberg FC at Mphuthumi Mafumbatha Stadium on January 18.

Meanwhile, Iqhayiya Sports Academy recently celebrated the selection of U21 players who will represent Sinenkani FC at the Ikhabba Cup 2025 in Durban.

“This is a great opportunity for our young talents to gain experience and stay sharp. We’re confident they’ll bring back valuable lessons to boost our season,” concluded Ngudze.
