A REMARKABLE performance by Lupopo FC of the Nkanji village in EmaXesibeni (Mount Ayliff) led to the team being crowned as champions of the Abakhuthazi Football Tournament, hosted by Shining Birds FC at Jojo Village.
The tournament, which took place on November 8 and 9, had 17 soccer teams in EmaXesibeni battling for the win.
But Lupopo FC walked away with the first prize of R2 000 and Crazy Fast United FC from Manxontseni won the second prize of R1000.
Tournament organiser and Shining Birds FC coach Xolela Goswana was pleased with the participation of soccer clubs and said that the tournament provided a platform for players to showcase their skills and place themselves in a better position to be scouted.
He said the next tournament will be played at Brooksnek on November 29.
