COMMUNITIES in Mbizana and surrounding areas celebrated the life and legacy of Oliver Reginald Tambo by running in the Umzila kaTambo Marathon last Sunday, October 26.
The marathon offered athletes a choice to participate in different race categories such as 5km, 21km and 42km.

It was a tribute to the anti-apartheid leader and longest-serving president of the ANC, born in Mbizana in the Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality.

Mayor Daniswa Mafumbatha applauded runners for taking part in the marathon. She said Tambo was an individual who believed in wellness.
“By honouring his [OR Tambo] legacy we should promote a healthy lifestyle,” she concluded. Winners walked away with prizes.
