New councillor sworn in

A NEW municipal councillor, Amanda Jakuja, was inaugurated on Tuesday, September 30, by the speaker of the Alfred Nzo District Municipality, Sixolile Mehlomakhulu.

The swearing-in ceremony at the municipal building in EmaXesibeni (Mount Ayliff) was witnessed by municipal manager Zamile Sikhundla, as well as members of the municipal administration.

Jakuja joined the district municipal council as a representative from the Umzimvubu Local Municipality.

She replaced Councillor Nkosomzi Nomnganga who vacated the seat in 2023. Speaker Mehlomakulu welcomed Jakuja and reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to good governance, service delivery and the strengthening of cooperative governance between the district and its constituent local municipalities.

“We welcome Councillor Jakuja to the Alfred Nzo District Municipality council. Her experience at the local level will contribute positively to the work of the council as we strive to improve the lives of our communities,” said Mehlomakulu.

Jakuja expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve at a district level and pledged to uphold the values of the institution and contribute meaningfully to the oversight and development efforts of the council.
