Shoe drive brings smiles to learners

UMUZIWABANTU Local Municipality mayor Sboniso Zungu has taken the shoe-drive to Mvuyo Primary School in Harding to donate brand new shoes to underprivileged learners.

A total of 35 pairs of shoes were donated on Wednesday, January 28.

The programme forms part of the mayor’s initiative to help support needy learners who cannot afford to have new shoes to wear in school.

“This programme is aimed at bringing back the dignity of learners because we understand that once you wear a worn out uniform you feel less of a human being amongst your peers. We also need to encourage our pupils to be excited about going to school, and by having such programmes it will assist in bringing back hope, confidence and enthusiasm,” explained Zungu.

The donation was made possible through the support of local businesses.
