TAKING part in this year’s KZN provincial Golden Games for senior citizens was an exciting moment of socialising, learning from each other and more importantly a chance to make new friends. Senior citizens aged 60 and older participated in various sporting games in Durban last week organised to promote physical wellness and fitness through sport. The games included: ball relay, dress up race, duck walk, goal shooting, ball pass and kick, jukskei, ring the stick and running.
In Kokstad, 35 elderly people participated with five of them taking first place in the ring stick game. The winners were: Nolulama Ndlazulwana (65), Siyabulela Mkhohlwa (66), Vivienne Sikiti (64), Anthony Norman (66) and Nolulama Lunika (64). They will now represent the KZN province in the national games between October 29 and November 1. Elderly people who played in the ball relay and dress up race won second place, while those who participated in the duck walk, goal shooting and ball pass and kick won third place.
The Harry Gwala district was placed third in the games.
