Siphelele Nketo

ON Friday, February 20, the KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority (KZNERA) will host a school outreach campaign at Leshman Secondary School in the Harry Gwala District. This is part of its ongoing commitment to protect communities and reduce socio-economic harm associated with alcohol abuse and irresponsible gambling.

The provincial regulator said that it implemented programmes aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm and promoting responsible gambling.

It said through its social responsibility business unit and in partnership with stakeholders, KZNERA will implement its learner-focused programme.

“Children with a future don’t drink and don’t gamble,” it said and further explained that the initiative aims to educate learners about the dangers of underage drinking and gambling, raise awareness about gender-based violence. The campaign will also provide essential school necessities to underprivileged learners, reinforcing the authority’s commitment to social responsibility, youth empowerment and community development.
