RESIDENTS of KwaBhaca (Mount Frere) will soon witness a range of activities due to road construction on the N2, crossing the small town of KwaBhaca.
The road upgrade forms part of the construction of the N2 road between KwaBhaca and EmaXesibeni.
In a meeting on Tuesday, February 17, at KwaBhaca Town Hall with representatives from the South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL), engineering consultant and construction company, stakeholders were notified about the project impact on the flow of traffic, commercial activities and movements during the construction phase.

“There will be disturbances to the movement of people and interruptions to business operations. We saw it as important to convene this meeting so that community members could raise any concerns they foresee during the implementation of this project,” said Ndanele Mdzinwa, the speaker of the Umzimvubu Local Municipality.
According to the project outline presented during the meeting, the construction work is anticipated to be completed within four months, with effect from March. Upon completion, locals will experience improvement such as a smooth flow of traffic, improved safety on the road and better accessibility for long distance travellers.
The Umzimvubu Local Municipality has called for cooperation, patience and mutual understanding during the construction period.
