Robbery suspects arrested

A POLICE response to a reported business robbery in Qumbu led to the arrest of two suspects in Callaway Street, Mthatha.

The suspects allegedly robbed a clothing shop in Qumbu on Monday, January 12. They threatened staff with a firearm and locked them inside an office while demanding the keys to a locked cellphone display. It was later discovered that the firearm used to commit the crime was a toy gun.

The thieves took the cellphones, loaded them in a school bag and left the shop.

Police collaboration between Mthatha police and a tracker company led to the arrest of the two suspects in Mthatha.

The stolen cellphones were also recovered.

Police OR Tambo district commissioner Major General Norman Modishana applauded the swift action by law enforcement agencies involved.
