SPINNING the decks at night clubs has become a means of livelihood for the Kokstad musician Sibongakonke Linqa.
The singer (32) began his music trajectory in 2011 after he was introduced to hip-hop music and deejaying by local musicians.
His deejaying career was interrupted in 2019 when he was shot in the back while in Durban. The shooting incident made him take a two-year break from the entertainment industry. Apparently in 2021 he returned to the entertainment industry as a local DJ in Kokstad clubs on weekends.
According to Linqa, his music journey has been hindered by lots of issues including poor health that forced him to drop out of school and resign from work.
“If it weren’t for my limitations, my career could have gone far,” he cited.
So far, he has released 13 Extended Plays (EP) and six single tracks. He is currently working on a single song scheduled to be released soon. “When I started singing, I joined a local music group and later went solo,” he said.
Apart from deejaying and singing, he has a clothing brand, which he established this year. To book DJ Linqa contact: 064 811 0749.
