A CLEAN-up programme and environmental awareness campaign was conducted in Donnybrook in Ward 13 of the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Local Municipality to preserve cleanliness on the streets.

The programme led by Deputy Mayor Kholeka Hadebe was in partnership with the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs along with KZN Wildlife, Johannes Phumani Phungula Local Municipality, Umzimkhulu Local Municipality and various stakeholders.

The programme focused on illegal dumping areas as municipal officials, community members, and volunteers joined hands to clear waste.

The exercise was not only about restoring cleanliness but also a demonstration of how communities can unite to combat pollution and promote healthier surroundings.

The community was made aware about the dangers of illegal dumping and its impact on the environment and public health as well as the role residents can play to maintain a clean environment.
