GREATER Kokstad Municipality manager Sipho Zwane expressed profound delight and an overwhelming enthusiasm with which the community embraced the first-of-its-kind MM’S Fun Run and Walk last Saturday, February 28.
He described the event as a vivid testament to unity and to the deep affection residents hold for their town.
He further remarked that what gratified him the most was the collective resolve of the municipal council that made a deliberate decision to support the race.
He said he hoped the MM’s Fun Run and Walk would become an annual fixture, meticulously planned and financially capacitated to attain the highest standards of excellence.

He affirmed that the overwhelming response from the public vindicated their initial vision, which was anchored in fostering social cohesion, advancing sports development and cultivating a culture of healthy, active living within the community.
He articulated an ambitious aspiration to position the town of Kokstad as a strategic sporting hub.
Mayor Lwanda Madikizela affirmed that the race will be elevated to a point where a 21km will be added next year, signalling a bold step towards expanding its stature and competitive calibre.
More than 300 athletes joined the MM’s race, including the deputy minister for public works and infrastructure Sihle Zikalala who arrived in Kokstad a day before the race.
