THE Kokstad Regional Court recently sentenced business robbery suspects who are Lesotho nationals to 15 years each for the robbery of a spaza shop in Franklin, near Kokstad.
In April last year, at 8pm, three suspects pretending to be customers bought an item from the shop owner. While they waited for the item, they threatened the owner with a firearm and demanded money.
They ran away with R35 000, cigarettes and airtime. During the robbery, the shop owner was left injured.
The suspects were traced and arrested in Rietvlei by the police district task team. Police spokesperson Sergeant Mosa Hlaki said that the suspects were positively linked to the Franklin business robbery and convicted on August 12.
