AN Mthatha High Court sitting in Ntabankulu last Friday, August 8, sentenced a serial rapist (42) for raping young girls while he was wearing a balaclava.
The man targeted young females aged between 15 and 19 in EmaXesibeni, formerly known as Mount Ayliff, and victims could not identify him.
The rape incidents occurred between March 2013 and August 2014. He broke into the victims’ homes and assaulted and raped them while hiding his face. He allegedly raped another woman in Kokstad in July 2018. The woman was on her way home from church at the time.
The suspect was arrested in February this year by Kokstad police after he was linked to the Kokstad rape case. The DNA results also linked him with EmaXesibeni rape cases where he was served with life sentences for two counts of rape and 15 years for another rape case. He was also sentenced to five years for kidnapping, as well as three years each for two counts of housebreaking. The rape case of the Kokstad woman is still ongoing at the Kokstad Regional Court.
