THOUGH it was a send-off prayer and motivational platform for the Mbizana-based FC Ravens, the message at Wednesday’s gathering was clear: “Make us proud!”.
This came as the FC Ravens team set out to travel to Mthatha to participate in the 2026 SAFA ABC Motsepe league playoffs scheduled for June 1-7 at Mthatha Stadium.
Sport enthusiasts and the local community of Mbizana gathered on Wednesday, June 27, to wish the team well. They also formed part of the prayer session for the team, organised by local stakeholders including SAFA in partnership with Alfred Nzo District Municipality, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Football Association and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality.
According to Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality mayor Daniswa Mafumbatha, the municipality is fully behind the FC Ravens footballers. She said that the municipality will provide some form of assistance to the team and its supporters as they head off to Mthatha next week.
She also urged the team players to go all out to excel and succeed: “We say victory is yours and we don’t expect anything less from you, so go out there and fight for that victory.”
Club manager for FC Ravens Loyiso Jokweni thanked the technical team and supporters, and promised outstanding results.
