THE reopening of a murder docket for the murder of Sihle Maya in 2023 has finally led to justice being served.
Maya was stabbed in the chest and died in hospital after an altercation in KwaBhaca (Mount Frere).
Investigating Officer Detective Sergeant Ntobeko Potolwana, attached to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) in KwaBhaca, reopened the provisionally withdrawn murder docket and finalised the investigation, while probing three other cases against the suspected murderer. The suspect (33) has been in custody after he abandoned bail for all his pending cases.
For the murder of Maya, he was sentenced to 10 years direct imprisonment by the KwaBhaca Regional Court recently.
Police Alfred Nzo district commissioner Major General Nompumelelo Majikijela has commended Sergeant Potolwana for exceptional dedication to his work.
