ANNUAL KOKSTAD HORSE RACING AND TOURISM EVENT – “PRIDE IN THE PAST, PATH TO THE FUTURE”
The Greater Kokstad Municipality cordially invites the people of Kokstad and surrounding communities to join us for the Annual Horse Racing and Tourism Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, 4 October 2025, at Kokstad Race Grounds (Behind Research Station), commencing at 9am until late.
This prestigious event stands as one of Kokstad’s most anticipated occasions, bringing together residents, visitors, and stakeholders in a vibrant atmosphere of sport, culture, and economic opportunity.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate Kokstad’s rich cultural heritage and tradition of horse racing, a sport deeply rooted in local history and identity; promote tourism within Greater Kokstad and the Harry Gwala District by showcasing the region as a thriving destination for both leisure and investment; to create a platform for local businesses, entrepreneurs, and informal traders to showcase their goods and services, thereby stimulating the local economy.
This also intends to strengthen social cohesion by uniting people from diverse backgrounds in a festive spirit of competition, entertainment, and cultural exchange. The Annual Horse Racing and Tourism event is not merely a sporting occasion but a driver of development.
It positions Kokstad as a hub of tourism excellence, boosts local hospitality industries, and opens opportunities for community upliftment. For visitors, it offers a taste of Kokstad’s natural beauty, warm hospitality, and vibrant culture. For the community, it reinforces pride, unity, and the vision of a prosperous, inclusive municipality. The day will also feature live music, fashion show, cultural performances, food stalls, and family-friendly activities, ensuring a memorable experience for all.
The Greater Kokstad Municipality encourages everyone to attend and be part of this celebration of sport, culture, fashion, and development. Let us come together to strengthen the bonds of community while advancing tourism and economic growth within the jurisdiction of Greater Kokstad Municipality.
Till next time!
