LUSIKISIKI police in the Eastern Cape arrested a suspect (55) on Tuesday, August 12, for allegedly raping his neighbour (53) in the Mantusini village.

The victim was asleep when the suspect entered her home. Police spokesperson Captain Welile Matyolo said that a rape case was immediately opened at Lusikisiki Police Station and the matter was referred to the specialised Family Violence, Child Protection, Sexual Offences and Femicide Unit (FCS) for further forensic investigation to establish conclusive evidence linking the suspect to the crime.

The arrested suspect will appear before the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of rape.

The SAPS OR Tambo district commissioner Major General Norman Modishana has condemned the incident and commended the swift arrest of the suspect.
