Ladies show they can do it

WOMEN actively involved in football have proven their capabilities during the Sasol league matches in both KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape. Executive Ladies FC, based in Ntabankulu, played an impressive match when they defeated Eastern Cape Rangers 4-0 at the Mount Ayliff Stadium on July 26.

It was the second match Executive Ladies FC played in the Eastern Cape Sasol Provincial League.

Club chairperson Mawethu Nama said that the club was still performing well in the league. He said that the club will strengthen its workforce when it clashes against Ayakha Stars FC in Mthatha on August 2.

“The club has three additional players to beef up the left wing and to balance the team,” he said.

Meanwhile in KwaZulu-Natal Sasol Provincial League, Diski Pros Academy lost in the opening match against Lindelani Ladies FC in Durban last Sunday.

Despite the loss, the team’s spirit remains high as club coach Lindo Xaba predicts more victories in the next league matches.

On August 3, Diski Pros Academy will play against Westville Ladies FC in Durban.

Xaba said training sessions were underway to develop a stronger connection between players and improve centre-back.

“We suffered a lot in the league opening match. Our centre-back was lacking, but to make up for that, we have decided to add more experienced players,” he concluded.
