MEASURES to host the much-anticipated ANC Alfred Nzo regional conference have been set after several postponements due to disputes.
The conference is taking place from July 24-26 at the Ntabankulu Multipurpose Centre. At the time of going to print, delegates were expected to register for the fifth regional conference on Thursday at Imvomvo Country Lodge and later form part of the opening speech by ANC Eastern Cape provincial chairperson Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane.
Initially, the event was scheduled to take place from July 3-5, but moved to July 10-12. ANC Alfred Nzo regional spokesperson Lungisile Mzanywa said all disputes that caused the delays have been resolved.
Apart from electing the new regional structure, Mzanywa said that the conference will deliberate on issues of economy, unemployment, international relations, as well as social issues such as gender-based violence.
Meanwhile recently, the ANC announced regional task teams to fulfil functions of regional executive committees and to ensure that regional conferences are held to elect regional executive committees. The regions affected by these changes were Alfred Nzo, Nelson Mandela, Dr WB Rubusana, Joe Gqabi and the Sarah Baartman region.
