WHEN Funani ‘Bra Mike’ Jojo (67) joined the running “gang” for mental and physical health, he never knew that running would become a sustained part of his life.
The Kokstad-based runner transformed his hobby into lifetime exercise to ensure his long-term physical and mental health.
The ex-school principal from Bethel Junior Secondary School in Matatiele said that his approach to running made it an enjoyable pastime rather than an obligatory task. On June 14, he will be running the Comrades Marathon for the third time in his running journey.
“There is nothing to stop me from running unless it is an injury. Taking a decision to run improved my state of mind,” he said and expressed thanks for the support he has been getting from his family, running community and his club members at XJ Athletics Club.
