THE SAPS OR Tambo District Stock Theft Prevention Task Team arrested a suspect (36) for possession of an unlicensed firearm (erased serial number) with two live rounds of ammunition.

The task team searched the suspect’s homestead in Lwandlana on Tuesday, September 23, and found a 9mm Norinco pistol. Captain Welile Matyolo said that the suspect was released on parole in September last year.

He was convicted for stock theft.

“The suspect has been charged for unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” said Matyolo. Police OR Tambo district commissioner Major General Norman Modishana applauded the task team on its success in recovering the firearm and arresting the suspect.
