LEARNERS at Saphukanduku High School, EmaXesibeni (Mount Ayliff), have welcomed the donation of new school uniforms donated by a non-profit organisation called Ikusasalethu.

The NPO, which champions youth development, visited the school recently as part of its initiatives to support the community of EmaXesibeni.

The uniforms were handed over to 94 learners in Grade 10. According to the NPO’s spokesperson Olwethu Dyido, the initiative formed part of the organisation’s broader vision of empowering youth and also equipping young people with skills, confidence and necessary opportunities.

“The aim was to witness young people becoming leaders and positive change-makers. By providing school uniforms, Ikusasalethu aimed to remove barriers to education, restore dignity and boost learners’ confidence and academic motivation,” she stated.

The NPO was launched in 2024 by a group of young people in the village of Saphukanduku in EmaXesibeni to give back to the community and also address socio-economic challenges faced by youth.

Dyido explained that the NPO remains committed to implementing sustainable youth development programmes that create lasting impact.
