APART from chasing good marks in class, Usiphile Gcali Sambane (17) is also chasing the Miss Summer Eastern Cape crown to be conducted on December 6 in East London.
The Tholang Senior Secondary School pupil holds the title of Miss Eastern Cape Best Entertainment Media 2023/24.
In 2018, she was crowned 2nd Princess in the Miss Elite Matatiele pageant. Her modelling journey started in 2016 when she participated in the Milisa Zenzele Fashion Show in Matatiele.
Her love of fashion drove her to pursue modelling while still focusing on her school work.
“When I initially participated in a pageant competition, I gained confidence and my public speaking enthusiasm developed,” she said.
She said she uses modelling to promote sports, encourage people to take care of their bodies and live a healthy lifestyle.
She recently hosted an awareness programme to promote a healthy lifestyle.
