NEXT Monday, July 28, will see the start of the trial for six suspects charged with murdering 18 victims in Lusikisiki.
The trial will take place in the High Court, Eastern Cape division, with a special sitting in the Lusikisiki Magistrates’ Court, said Luxolo Tyali, NPA regional spokesperson for the Eastern Cape division.
“Eight weeks have been set aside for the trial to proceed until September 19, 2025,” he added.
The suspects have abandoned bail. They are all facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, 18 charges of murder, kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, and illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. The victims were killed in two separate homes in September last year.

Meanwhile, the suspects have also been linked to the murder of politician Mncedi Gijana in KwaBhaca (Mount Frere) in August last year.
