A LOVE triangle involving three individuals in Mthozela, Qumbu, has resulted in the death of an elderly man (78) last Friday, April 3.

It was reported that the man was assaulted with a stick and stabbed several times in the upper body, allegedly by a jealous man (59) who found his female lover (65) with the deceased.

The incident occurred at 8pm.

The deceased was in his home when he was attacked. He was with the woman, having some drinks.

Police confirmed the arrest of the suspect on the scene. 

“It is unsettling when such heinous acts happen among the elderly. We expect the elderly to amicably resolve their issues through negotiations and not to resort to violence,” said police OR Tambo district commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana.

The suspect was charged with murder.
