THE second XJ 10 run in EmaXesibeni was a success with scores of runners participating. This year’s fun run did not only attract runners from EmaXesibeni and surrounding areas, but drew an interest from elite runner Nape Letlatsa from Lesotho.

Letlatsa was pleased with the level of professionalism and said: “I registered very late to participate, but when I arrived at the venue, my race pack was prepared. Even during the race everything was set accordingly with water points, race marshals, and traffic cops.”

Letlatsa used the fun run to get himself ready for the upcoming Umzila KaThambo Marathon.

The fun run was organised by XJ Athletics Club.

Club secretary Mawande Mphithi was impressed with the turnout of participants who travelled all the way from the OR Tambo district, Harry Gwala district and Ugu district.

He said 450 runners participated in the event and added that the number of social runners had increased compared to the previous race.
