SCORES of young people in EmaXesibeni (Mount Ayliff) participated in soccer games as their way to celebrate the legacy of Nelson Mandela. The games were also meant to empower young people through sports, arts and culture.
A total of 32 football clubs competed at the three-day tournament organised by football coach Kwazi ‘Kwaito’ Ncwane, from July 18-20.
“We are celebrating the legacy of Nelson Mandela by uniting people, and also making a positive impact in our communities,” Ncwane said.
He was pleased with the support he received as well as with some players that were scouted during the games.
He has vowed to host another tournament next year where he will include netball clubs.
Meanwhile, Abakhaya FC secured the first place followed by Abembi FC in second place. Abakhaya FC won a trophy, brand new kit and prize money.
