THE Mbizana Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit of the Hawks in partnership with Aliwal North K9 members have arrested another suspect (39) in connection with kidnapping allegations.
The suspect will join his co-accused (48) who was arrested in May 2025. The perpetrator has been linked with a kidnapping incident that occurred in April at Msukeni, EmaXesibeni (Mount Ayliff).
It was reported that the victim (30) was reported missing while on his way to meet his brother.
A search was activated by police and the community until, on May 5, his family ostensibly received phone calls from the suspects demanding ransom.
The victim was rescued unharmed.
“A deductive reasoning investigation by the team led them to a specific homestead at Sterkspruit. Upon arrival, police found the suspect, and he was arrested on the spot,” Hawks spokesperson Warrant-Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana explained. He said the investigation continues and more arrests are imminent.
