YOUNG author Siphenathi Mxanywa (25) shared his life experiences through a book titled: They Were Toxic and You Were Born.
The debut book published in August aims to inspire young people and share life experiences of growing up without a father figure.
The book also contains chapters that address forgiveness and highlights challenges faced by single mothers.
Mxanywa grew up in the rural community of Nomkholokotho in KwaBhaca (Mount Frere).
He said life forced him to look after his four siblings after his mother died in 2023.
“The book illustrates situations children go through without parental guidance,” he said, adding that he did not further his studies after matric because he had to raise his siblings.
He added that the book also brings to light experiences single parents go through when raising their children.
He said the book made him feel accepted and healed. To get a copy, contact: 067 359 0910.
