Abandoned baby rescued

SIPHELELE NKETO

AN investigation into child neglect was launched by the Kokstad police following another shocking discovery of an abandoned baby in Kokstad this week. Police spokesperson Mosa Hlaki said that the child was taken to hospital for medical care while police continued looking for the mother.

Last month in the Kokstad town, another baby estimated to be a month old was found in hazardous, unthinkable conditions.

A woman (27) believed to be the mother of the baby was arrested and charged with child neglect.

Another incident that involved children in the same town of Kokstad was the discovery of an infant’s body on October 16. The body was found in Mphela, wrapped in a black plastic bag, bruised and with a missing hand.
