THE Avenue Park in Kokstad was filled with excitement last Saturday, October 3, when Helping Hands NCW NPO in partnership with MC4 Security hosted the annual Spring Festival.
Enjoying the beautiful weather and strong community support, the festival attracted more than 60 stalls, offering a wide range of food, crafts, products and services.
The entertainment included music by DJ Lee and DJ Deon, with live performances from Alexia, Caleb, Rhymax and the GIC 1st Boys Brigade. The children’s corner kept younger visitors entertained with go-karts, face painting and trampolines by Qhoma Jump, jumping castles and many other games and activities.
The festival also featured a Cupcakes For Cancer drive. Hayley Grewe and Pamela Jood gave an informative breast cancer awareness talk and provided free breast examinations to members of the community. Ladies were also taught how to perform self examinations for breast cancer.
The afternoon included a lively game of bingo, followed by a car show featuring a selection of impressive cars and bakkies.
Raffle Winners for the day were K&L Automotive who won R5 000 cash, Stoney Naidoo who won R2 500 cash, LLS Fitness who walked away with R1 000 cash prize as well as Stepping Stones Day Care who won a R1 000 fruit and veg voucher.
