WITH the local government election date drawing near, the South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Alfred Nzo district has commenced preparations at grassroots level to secure a triumphant outcome.
This comes after the party’s national level promised to independently contest the upcoming municipal elections on November 4 for the first time. Bongekile Phikwa, the party’s spokesperson in the Alfred Nzo region, said that they are busy setting up structures that will play a significant role in the voting districts. He said the party will later elect candidates before the cut-off date.
Phikwa added that contesting elections for the first time is not going to be an easy journey for the SACP, but they will work hard to gain the majority support. He said that the party will focus on individuals who are no longer interested in voting by encouraging them to participate in these elections.
