LAST Sunday, April 12, was a remarkable day for runners of XJ Athletics Club who participated in a charity run from KwaBhaca to EmaXesibeni.
The 11 athletes participated in the 40km run to seek donations for charity. It was reported that participants in the run had one common goal—to give support to the needy.
They were inspired by the spirit of giving. They asked for donations of sanitary pads to be donated to female learners of Zwelakhe Senior Secondary.
The idea was initiated by Luyanda “akaCoach Luya” Mgoduka, one of the club’s runners, who wanted to help his former school. Mgoduka’s idea was to make sure that female learners do not miss school because of menstruation. The aim was also to instil dignity in female learners.
