POLICE in Willowvale have appealed to members of the public to assist with locating the missing Mandisi Mhaga (69) of Singeni.

Mhaga was last seen on November 13 wearing blue trousers.

Police said that the K9 search and rescue unit was stopped from looking for Mhaga after his family believed that he had disappeared to respond to his traditional spiritual calling. Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa said that police were even told that searching for Mhaga could disturb his ancestral calling and place his life at risk.

“As a result, detectives conducted preliminary investigations, but no physical search was carried out in line with the family’s wishes,” added Mawisa.

Now, police are asking anyone with information to contact Willowvale SAPS Detective Sergeant Majebe on 082 441 8301 or alternatively call the SAPS Crime Stop number: 08600 10111.
