A DECLINE in support for the African National Congress (ANC) in the 2024 general elections led to the launch of an action programme by the ANC Kokstad sub-region.
The programme intends to regain the lost votes at a ward level.
In line with the programme of action, the party revived the strength of volunteers at an event in Kokstad last Sunday, October 12.
According to ANC Kokstad sub-regional secretary Zolani Siqwayi, ANC volunteers have a task to get involved in ward-based ANC programmes and attend to community problems. “In the 2024 general elections, the ANC obtained 54% in Kokstad. That was a huge decline. The action plan will help regain the lost votes in the upcoming local government elections,” said Siqwayi.
Siqwayi was pleased with the attendance of volunteers, which gave him hope for better support in local government elections, presumed to be next year.
