A TEACHER from the rural school of Dulati High in Umzimkhulu appeared in the Umzimkhulu Magistrate’s Court on Monday for possession of an illegal gun, ammunition and a suspected stolen vehicle.
The 31-year-old teacher was arrested in school on September 10 after police followed up on a tip-off. He was arrested while driving the suspected stolen vehicle.
SAPS spokesperson Mosa Hlaki said that the vehicle was positively identified as stolen from Pietermaritzburg.
“Further investigations led police to the suspect’s house and they recovered the VW Polo stripped. It was also positively linked to the Bayview SAPS case,” she explained. The case was postponed to September 30 and the teacher remains in police custody.
