BANELE “Napoleon” Mawaba (14) recently joined the SAFA Academy in Pretoria. Born and bred in Umzimkhulu, the young footballer fell in love with soccer at age nine when she played for Blackpool Pool FC. She later moved to Rich Future Stars Ladies FC in the Harry Gwala district.
Her first appearance in the Eastern Cape SASOL League was in the season of 2021/22 under the care of Siyamthanda Mkhize as her coach for Golden Horse Ladies FC.
Joining the SAFA Academy comes after her impressive performances with Sapphire Ladies’ FC in the EC Sasol League.
Her mother Nomnikelo Mawaba was very proud of her development and promised to support her.
“This achievement is proof of all the hard work,” she said.
