ON Sunday, August 31, the ANC Tolomane Mnyayiza Regional Task Team conducted a special regional general council at the Shepstone Civic Centre in preparation for the upcoming ANC National General Council.
Leading the discussions was the deployed ANC NEC Bheki Cele who unpacked the ANC’s 5th National General Council base document.
The document is titled: ANC Renewal to Advance the Freedom Charter Forward to a National Democratic Society Based on Social Justice, Shared Prosperity and Human Solidarity.
It frames all the strategic questions facing the movement and the country.
ANC KZN provincial task team convenor Jeff Radebe commended the regional task team for organising a gathering that was a resounding success with full capacity attendance, stating that the ANC is alive in the Tolomane Mnyayiza region.
“I want to commend the work being done here in the Tolomane Mnyayiza region. We can see the progress on the ground, particularly with the issue of water and roads.
The construction work underway is a clear sign that we are moving forward, but we must fast-track our efforts to ensure every citizen feels the impact of a caring government,” Bheki Cele said. ANC branches, leagues and alliance partners participated in robust engagements as delegates acknowledged the progress made by the ANC to transform the lives of people in the region.
Both Tolomane Mnyayiza regional task team convenor Dixie Nciki and RTT coordinator Nkazimulo Mavundla thanked the delegates for their high turnout.
Outlining the region’s programme of action, Mavundla gave his assurance that the newly established RTT had hit the ground running.
“We have a clear programme of action, having done a thorough synopsis of the challenges and opportunities in the region. But this programme of action is not ours alone. Its success relies on all of us,” he said.
