WOMEN in the local police sector participated in Operation Basadi in Highflats, proving their worth in the ongoing fight against crime.
The female officers led by Major General Xhelithole conducted stop-and-search activities, tavern raids and road blocks at the Hlokozi junction on August 21.
They arrested eight illegal immigrants, four suspects for gender-based violence and another four suspects for dealing in dagga.
One suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle that was reported missing in Johannesburg.
Police also issued four traffic offences. Police spokesperson Mosa Hlaki said that the operation was a success, especially due to the presence of female traffic police and female employees from the Department of Home Affairs.
