The Greater Kokstad Municipality hereby informs members of the community that the Special Indigent Register, comprising both the list of approved and declined applicants is currently accessible exclusively via the official municipal website www.kokstad.gov.za. Residents are encouraged to visit the website to verify their application status. Applicants whose applications have been declined will, in due course, receive an SMS notification regarding their status. The municipality further invites and welcomes objections from any individual who wishes to dispute the inclusion of an approved applicant whose circumstances, in their view, do not warrant indigent status. Similarly, unsuccessful applicants who are dissatisfied with the reasons provided for the rejection of their applications are entitled to lodge a formal appeal. Applicants are urged to ensure that their beneficiary information is updated. All appeals or objections must:
- Clearly state the reasons for the dispute, and
- Be accompanied by tangible evidence supporting the claim.
Submissions must be directed to the Municipal Manager, Mr S.R. Zwane, within a 14-day period, commencing 15 August 2025 and closing 03 September 2025.
Objections or appeals may be submitted:
- In person, at the Indigent Office during office hours (08h00–16h30, Monday to Thursday; 08h00–16h00, Friday), or
- Mr Lucky Magadla at lucky.magadla@kokstad.gov.za, or by telephone on 039 797 6703 during office hours. The Greater Kokstad Municipality remains committed to transparency, fairness, and the equitable allocation of resources to deserving beneficiaries.
