THE Greater Kokstad Municipality council appointed a new chief financial officer on August 14 to fill the post left vacant after the resignation of the previous CFO in March.
Wandisile Dotye, currently working in the municipality as manager for revenue, will start working as the new CFO next month.
Municipal spokesperson Zolani Siqwayi said that Londiwe Sotshede is currently the acting CFO.
“Dotye is well-experienced for the post. There was a time when he worked as acting CFO in the municipality,” Siqwayi stated.
The appointment of the new CFO came in the midst of allegations of political interference as MPL DA KZN spokesperson for Cogta (Department of Corporate Governance and Traditional Affairs) Marlaine Nair warned about cadre deployment saying it undermines merit, transparency and service delivery.
However, the municipality denied the allegations of political interference.
